Wastewater collection

Wastewater is collected as gravity leads wastewater from households and business into pumping stations, from where the wastewater is moved into wastewater treatment plant for processing.

Many different collection systems exist in different markets, but generally these can be divided into two categories: collection systems with separated sewers for rainwater and wastewater and those with combined sewers. A combined system entails that rainwater and wastewater from households and businesses are transported in the same pipes, creating an increased need for capacity. Most new collection systems have separated sewers.

The separated system collects rainwater in sewers, from where it is leads the wastewater either to a pumpstation or directly to a rainwater storage facility. As the amount of rainwater in the system is unpredictable, it may be that it is stored in stormwater basins or water tanks in the wastewater treatment plant. This facilitates easy control of flow in the system and avoids overwhelming the wastewater treatment plants.

AVK has a wide range of products related to wastewater collection, these include check valves, knife gate valves, gate valves, air valves as well as various accessories such as couplings, fittings, and repair clamps.
